HOW TO CREATE A YOUTUBE CHANNEL

Many people think that creating your own YouTube channel is difficult. In this article, we have made a guide on how to easily and quickly set up and implement your YouTube account. In addition, you will learn how to optimize your channel to improve your standing in YouTube’s ranking algorithms.

5 steps to create a channel

Getting started | How and why to sign in to YouTube and create a YouTube channel

Step 1: Sign in to your Google account

If you don’t have a Google account, be sure to follow this link and keep track of security.

But if you have Gmail, or you use Google Maps, then you most likely already have a Google account, so there is nothing to worry about.

Go to youtube.com and click ‘SIGN IN’. From there, you will be taken to the Google login.

Once you’ve set up and signed into your Google account, it’s time to create a channel. Select the user icon with access rights. A drop-down menu is revealed in which you need to configure ‘Settings’.

A YouTube account is automatically set up from your personal Google account. To use YouTube for your business, you need to create a brand account.

Click ‘Manage Channels’ under ‘My Channel’. In the window that opens, click on the ‘Create Channel’ button.

Enter a name for your brand in the appropriate field. You can use your brand name or choose another. You can change the channel name at any time.

After doing that, check the box stating that you understand that you are creating a new Google account with custom settings.

You will then be brought to your channel’s dashboard. Now it’s time to start setting it up.

Step 2: Set up your channel

Let’s start with the basic information about your channel. On the channel toolbar, click ‘Customize Channel’. You’ll be taken to the YouTube Creator Studio where you’ll find news, personalized recommendations, tips, stats, and more to help you grow your channel.

Basic information

In the Basics tab, you need to create a title and description that will help people find your channel when they enter search terms that describe what kind of videos they are looking for. These keywords can include what your channel is about, the problems it helps solve, your industry, and more. A good tactic is to include a call to action in the first lines of your description. Be especially careful with the first 100-150 characters. Depending on where the description appears, the remaining text may be cut off.

In the same tab, you can find the URL of your channel, add links to sites that you want to talk about, and specify an email address so that viewers know how to contact you for cooperation.

Branding

Branding is the visual effects that decorate your channel and make it unique: Profile photo, banner, logo.

The profile photo is the picture below the video on the play page and in the comments. YouTube recommends using an image that is at least 98×98 pixels and no larger than 4MB.

A banner is a giant billboard of your brand at the top of your YouTube profile. This is the first thing people see when they visit your channel. As with any billboard advertising, the simpler the message, the easier it will be received. Don’t try to overdo the look of your YouTube channel. Instead, use this small space wisely so that viewers focus on your brand and want to know what your videos are about. YouTube recommends uploading an image that is at least 2048×1152 pixels and is no larger than 6 MB.

If you have no experience or desire to design banners, you can use a pre-made template from the internet or contact our company, Levincast, to create your own unique billboard.

The channel logo is the icon that appears in the lower right corner of the player when you watch your videos. It is recommended to upload an image with a size of 150×150 pixels and no more than 1 MB.

Make sure your YouTube branding matches how you present your brand elsewhere on the web. Uniform corporate colors are important so that the audience does not doubt whether this is the right channel. They’ll hit the “Subscribe” button if they’re sure they have the “correct” version of you on YouTube.

Main page

You can customize the look of your channel homepage by adding up to 12 sections. On the same page, you can upload a channel trailer, which can be a great way to introduce people to your content. The trailer should grab attention from the start and also represent the type of content you create on YouTube. To create an exciting trailer, it is advisable to hire a good video editor. When you contact us at Levincast, you will receive a video of excellent content and quality with state-of-the-art special effects, transitions, and sound.

Step 4: Enter video information

As soon as the video is loaded, a window will open in which you need to enter the following information:

  • title
  • description
  • icon
  • playlists
  • age restrictions
  • episodic breakdown / timestamps

  • language and subtitles

Now that you know how to launch a YouTube channel, you need to understand how to monetize it.

A few tips on how to improve your YouTube channel’s ranking

Have you ever wondered why it is necessary to increase the rating of your videos and channel? Creators who want to make money from their videos need to get a certain number of views and subscribers before they earn a decent amount. Even if you are not after money, you most likely want to share content with a large number of viewers. YouTube’s algorithms most often offer viewers videos with a high ranking.

Tip 1: Make quality content

According to Search Engine Journal, successful YouTube videos have eye-catching intros, great branding, background music, and clear audio.

The duration of the video should be slightly longer than the duration of your top competitors’ videos. In addition, it is necessary to pique the viewer’s interest as much as possible in the first 15 seconds so that he or she continues to watch the video.

Tip 2: Write keywords

Each title, description, and tags section should include keywords. If you are new to this business, you can copy them from the pages of leading creators in your niche. Another good way to find popular keywords related to topics that interest you is to use the YouTube Search suggestions tactic. Here, all you have to do is enter keywords related to your area of interest.

Tip 3: Analyze Views

To evaluate the results of your video, use the built-in YouTube analytics, and also link your account to the service, Google Analytics. By tracking statistics, it is easier to understand the content and the reaction of viewers to any changes on the channel.

Tip 4: Create vibrant, eye-catching thumbnails for your videos

There are around 400 hours of content uploaded to YouTube every minute, so your videos should grab peoples’ attention with custom thumbnails. Yes, YouTube automatically generates thumbnails, but it does so in a rather random way. They are rarely interesting and are often blurry, catching your face making a strange expression, or cutting off part of your head.

Therefore, we strongly recommend that you create your own thumbnails. To do this, you can use automated generators or order them from our team of professional designers at Levincast. Our experts will make memorable, vivid thumbnails that can increase your CTR (click-through rate).

Tip 5: Upload regularly

Regardless of the number of subscribers on the channel, you need to constantly add new videos. Otherwise, your channel will quickly lose its current audience. It is recommended to add videos with a certain frequency. For example, twice a week or every five days.

Tip 6: Call to action

Whether you want to drive an audience to your website, increase your followers, or start a conversation in the comments, the right CTA (call to action) can help make it happen.
